thank you scott;
thank you all — for helping to get me ready for such a cool, fun, memorable Boston run.
my time splits told the tale; we started fastish, and scott said early on that either this is going to be an epic run, or we’re going to be sorry we didn’t hold off a bit.
it was never my intention to run too fash early on, and we didn’t; kinda. I was running with the mass of runmanity, trying to keep it slow; the mile splits kept rolling off: 7:15, 7:16, 7:16…. Scott, no less than 4 times told me to take it easy… we were successful as we settled into a 7:25 pace for most of the race. Scott has a way of making casual comments sound like moral imperitives. Scott said “let’s lock it in here through mile 17 and then push each other up the hills past 21 and roll on in.” It sounded like a good plan.

* my watch was 3:17:24; my time was 3:17:12 — i mistakenly started it (early by about 4 seconds) as we crossed a crosswalk stripe immediately before we crossed the timing mat ; and I stopped it several steps after the finish line (about 8 seconds); i figure;

i had a great boston experience and i owe you all a big thank you for your respective parts in my experience.
and thank you scott;
my sister is a teacher; (stay with me here) she says her job as an educator is to “raise the interest level” of the children, for only if they’re interested will they learn.
scott johnson was a great Boston party buddy; scott likes good food, tells good stories; and he raised the interest level about so many of the weekend’s offerings; it wouldn’t have been the same without him (thx sj);

my wife went; was working long distance while we took in the town. You could say it wasn’t ideal; but then again; working from a laptop in front of a window overlooking the Charles River and the Boston skyline including the CITGO sign at Fenway, watching the cold wind make white caps on the river… and handling business from 3 hours delay and 2000 miles away… — ; how do you define ‘ideal’?
the day after the race deanne and i did the freedom trail tour-walk with off-and-on-rain falling. we skipped out at the end, crossed Boston Common in the rain and tripped down the neighborhoods and looked in on some shops while the off-and-on rain urged us in to some cool antique shops. it was memorable.
